This venemous snake gets its name from the large, hornlike scales on its nose. It is found in Africa, often near marshes or streams. Beautifully patterned scales help it hide, unseen, on the ground, while it waits for rodents or other small mammals to come within striking range. Hollow fangs, which are replaced several times through-out the snake's life, pump venom into the victim.
