The giant anteater lives in South America on grasslands and forests near Argentina. Anteaters are usually active during the day, and are excellent swimmers. Though they cannot see well, they have an amazing sense of smell. Anteaters feed from large ant and termite nests, using their long, sticky tongues to trap the ants.
