Made of fine bone china, the rims of each piece are full of rich color reminicent of Granada's warm environment; burnt umbers, black and a soft and matted gold. Adorned with a Greek Key pattern along the edge, the rim is divided into segments that are both organic in pattern and mathamatical. Islamic art does not use representations of living beings, but instead, relies heavily upon geometric patterns, especially symmetric ones. The bread and butter plate looks as though it could have been lifted off one of the tile patterns within the famous walled city. This 9" accent plate is a lovely addition to the Alhambra 5 piece place setting, or simply to use on its own.
