This beautiful pattern is strongly influenced by an archival pattern first recorded by Spode in 1832. It is very likely that the decoration for Butterfly Garden takes its floral inspiration from Curtis' Botanical Magazines from the late 1700's, however the source of the butterflies is unknown. Spode has re-created this glorious pattern on their Stafford shaped Fine Bone China, boardered in 22 karat gold.
