About the Lowland Gorilla
Eastern and western lowland gorillas are found in dense forests, marshes, and bamboo forests in southern Africa. These gentle vegetarians spend much of their day moving slowly through the forest, looking for leaves, fruits, tender shoots, and bark to eat. Each night they make fresh, leafy beds and may sleep in the trees. Adult males generally act as protectors and leaders of their small family groups.
