About the Twin Spotted Rattlesnake
These rattlesnakes are found from Arizona to northern Mexico in mountainous forests. Their rattles are used as a warning to potential predators. Though their venom is dangerous, they typically hunt small mammals and avoid people whenever possible. As members of the pit viper family, they have two heat-sensitive pits between their eyes and nose. These pits help them find and strike prey accurately, even in the dark!
