This osprey's call was recorded in June 1968 in southern Finland, and was a female alarm call in flight.
The osprey, a bird of prey, is found in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Hunting from up to 100 feet in the air, the osprey pinpoints its prey in the water. It swoops down, grabs the fish (sometimes even diving underwater) and continues flying. Specialized large, curved claws help the osprey to carry large fish while in flight. The osprey makes a nest from sticks and other materials high above the ground.
