About the Spectacled Bear
The spectacled bear gets its name from the distinctive yellowish rings around its eyes. The rest of its fur is brown or black. Small in comparison to other bears, males weigh 220-240 lbs. and females weigh 140-180 lbs. They are found throughout the South American rainforests and grasslands, eating mostly plants as well as some small mammals and insects.
