Great news for all animal enthusiasts! Wild Republic has entered into a partnership with the National Audubon Society to create a line of realistic-looking plush beanbag birds and other animals. This partnership also includes the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which has provided the authentic sounds for each animal to further add to the realism of these plush toys.
Each animal's lifelike design and impeccable detailing is the result of input from Audubon, where each is painstakingly examined for the maximum level of perfection in a five-inch plush toy. The authentic animal sounds in the plush toy provided by Cornell represent hours, months, even years of in-the-field work conducted by expert recordists. This red squirrel's call was recorded March 26, 1986, in Uvalde County, Texas, and was a squirrel disturbance call.
Squirrels are very common mammals that love forested areas containing a variety of live trees. They prefer to make their dens in hollow trees, but will also build nests from twigs and leaves. They love playing tag with each other, leaping from one tree to another. Most squirrels have a bushy tail that they use as a shield when fighting, a blanket in the cold, and even an umbrella in the rain. Along with nuts and acorns, squirrels commonly eat grapes, grasses, and insects.
