Meet Dorinda. Her name, pronounced dore-IN-dah, is a popular Spanish name. In fact, everything about Dorinda is popular. All the boy monkeys think she is quite cute. But Dorinda doesn't care much about being popular. She is too busy to notice. As they say in South America, "An ant on the move does more than a dozing ox."

Dorinda is a golden lion tamarin. Tamarins are often considered one of the most adorable of primates. Some are so small they can be cupped in a person's hand. They have brightly colored orange and red hair. They make clucking sounds and they sleep in tree holes.

This tamarin is one of the most endangered species. In fact, more golden lion tamarins live in captivity than in the wild. The few tamarins remaining live in South America and Brazil.
