Meet Diallo, his name means "bold one" in Africa. With such a bold face, this name seems to fit. The other animals are a bit startled by Diallo's unusual appearance. But in reality, Diallo couldn't be any more kindly. So when Diallo sees a surprised look on another animal's face, he just laughs, repeating the African proverb, "In the jungle, the truly venomous is never seen."
The mandrill is one of the largest of the ground-dwelling baboons. Its scary face, is misleading, by nature, mandrills are actually peaceful and social.
The adult male has vivid blue, red, and purple on his face -- and rump! This coloration helps mandrills identify one another when foraging.
Mandrills live in the rainforests of western and central Africa. If you happen to see one, don’t jump!
